Now I see new Firefox extensions all the time and most of the time I’m left scratching my head saying, “Why spend the time on that?”

Not today though! Adblock Plus: Element Hiding Helper is a great extension in my opinion.

It’s dubbed as a “companion extension for Adblock Plus” but it is so much more. The extension lets you create element hiding rules easily to hide certain elements on a site. You simply select the element you want to be hidden and then choose which attributes of the element should be taken into account when hiding it in future. The element hiding rule is generated and added automatically.

What I like is that it can not only help me to block certain ad blocks on site but it gives me the freedom of choosing elements specifically. What’s that mean to you? It means that if a website has a column that frustrates you because it seems to just be in the way, block the element.

I like this extension because it can be used for ad blocks, but so much more as well. It’s a good way of giving you control over what you see on websites.
