Font Finder is a new Firefox Extension that is a pretty interesting tool.

The way it works is that you highlight an element (paragraph, etc), right-click and select ‘Font Finder’ and you can see the full CSS text styling a what you selected.

For the most part there is a general set of fonts used and after you’ve been doing this for a while you will pretty much know most fonts online (in plain text format) by just looking at them. Heck, I even annoy my wife sometimes when we go out because I’ll see a letter on a sign or a restaurant menu and I’ll say, “Hey! That’s the same font I used on so-and-so’s website.”

I wish that it would work like What the Font? where you could get a font out of a selection of an image. Now that would be a great extension! Of course I can only imagine the time (if even possible) that it would take to make it.

Still, Font Finder may not be a tool you use all the time, but it does look like it’ll save you from looking at stylesheets if you want to see how something is styled up.
