As if this day hadn’t been crazy enough! Apparently a Brazilian court ordered YouTube to shut down until it removes a sex video of Daniela Ciecarelli.
Cicarelli and her boyfriend have filed a suit to get the video taken down and also want $116,000 in damages for each day that it stays up. Do they understand YouTube? Of course YouTube will take it down, and some copies have been. But users have reposted it. With the overwhelming number of videos submitted to YouTube on a daily basis, keeping track of all of them may end up being a poison with no remedy.
Of course the ruling will probably be hard to uphold since YouTube is based in the US. Google has yet to issue a comment. Am I the only one seeing a day coming soon where online practices are governed by an International law rather than federal?
