Over on Ajaxian there’s a great link to SpeedTest.net which is a Ajax/Flash hybrid app that lets you test your internet connection upload and download speeds between your computer and servers around the world.

It’s got a great visual look and, I hate to say it, is quite fun to watch and use. It reminds me of some special tool from the movies. Of course that may be only in my strange mind!

It’s got a nice map that will recommend a server that is closest to your location, but you can also choose servers from around the globe. If you want to take an internet connection speed test, SpeedTest.net is the place to go.
