Hey there and welcome to my “about” page.   My name - as you can tell from my website address - is Vernon Kesner.  I am a freelance website designer and developer.  Right now, I’m located in the mountains of Western Maryland.

At Work

I’ve been a freelance web designer since February 2002 and have worked with a wide range of clients from Hawaii to New York.  I enjoy developing with PHP and MySQL and love building websites using CodeIgniter or WordPress.

I make it my goal to build a website around the vision that a client has.  I put my input where needed, but understand that this is their website and it needs to function like they want.  Although some of my greatest skills are in design and development of a website, I always strive to make sure that the experience a client has with me is one they will want to tell others about.

I’ve had the opportunity to work with larger design firms, but at this point in my life I’m happy working as a freelance web designer.  I like to think of myself as a “people person” and being a freelance web designer gives me the opportunity to make a personal connection with those I’m working with.  This not only seems to make the development process smoother but also allows me to truly get a feel for what the client is looking for.

At Home

At home, I am a husband and father of 3 amazing kids.  My wife, Ashley, loves fitness and is on the road to becoming a personal trainer.  She was actually in Oxygen Magazine (a fitness magazine for women) in their Future of Fitness section for the March 2009 issue.  I enjoy exercising and living healthy, but she takes it to a whole different level.

My kids are the heartbeat of my life.  I have a son who is my oldest and two daughters separated by a little over a year.  There’s nothing like spending time with the kids whether for a hike in the woods, a movie on the couch, or a game of Wii!
