A report over on Search Engine Roundtable says that a new Google data refresh is taking place now. Apparently people are noticing some large and small shuffling in the position of pages for certain search queries. Doesn’t seem like it will be a huge update, but you never know! Google has not confirmed as of yet if this is a real update or not.

Google is already in trouble from their purchase of YouTube. The Italian government has launched a criminal proceeding against Google and raided their Milan office in regards to the posting of a violent video clip on YouTube. Here is a link to the ALCEI website where the press release about this is posted.

There is a law called Directive 31/00 that basically will protect ISPs from content submitted by users that should help Google out with responsibility for the video. Google has already removed the movie… if you are wondering (and I’m sure your were) the video was made by teenagers showing their own violence against a disabled person.

Sadly, instead of the focus being on the kids in the video it’s on Google. The problem is a lot bigger than a website that allows the posting of videos. We cannot blame a website for the actions of these teenagers. What is sad is that this video and the publicity of the lawsuit will only encourage copycat behavior from other individuals interested in the same thing.

Have you ever needed to use the Lasso tool in a zoomed in state but not been able to fit the entire area in your window? This is a pain because it always forces you to zoom out and not get as good of a selection as you would like.

Well, your troubles are over! If you are zoomed in, you can scroll while lassoing in Photoshop. When you get near the edge and you need to scoll to continue using the Lasso tool, don’t let go of the Lasso tool and hit the Spacebar. What this does is temporarily activate the Hand tool so you can scroll. Just let go of the Spacebar when you are ready to continue using the Lasso tool!
