Earlier today I wrote about an article published over on SEOmoz about 24 On-site SEO checkups.

I mentioned in my post that I was going to put together a PDF version of this checklist. Well, here it is! PDF will open in a new window

Enjoy and let me know if you use it! Thanks again Guillaume for a great article.

Update: If anyone is interested in the actual Word file that I created this on, let me know and I’ll post it. Have a great weekend!

24 On-site SEO Checkups
February 23rd, 2007

Over on SEOmoz there’s a great post that covers 24 On-site SEO Checkups For Clueless Developers / Marketers.

The list does contain some great tips and I’m going to be working on using it to generate a checklist that I will go through with prospective clients as well. Once I get it complete enough that I would use it, I’ll post a PDF of it up here for you to download.

I’m not going to try and summarize all 24 points because there is more than I could cover in a short bit. I will, however, give you a sampling of a few points that I liked…

2. Ensure there is a well written, non-duplicated attractive Title / Description tags on every page.

Although this may not be a huge factor, it’s surprising to see the number of sites that do this. Heck, I know I’ve been guilty of it before.

5. Double check your code to make sure you’ve got your content titles and subtitles under H1 / H2 tags.

I think along with this needs to be a mention of not throwing everything in H1 tags.

10. Be sure there is a sitemap.xml at the root of your site.

This is definitely one that I see as important, especially after the adoption of the Site Map protocol by Google, Yahoo and MSN.

21. Get your website xhtml/w3c validated to cover the major issues you might not have thought of

Valid code is a big deal to me, but as it’s been discussed recently validation isn’t everything.

Go ahead and read the entire list yourself!
