Fawnt is a great font resource for designers, developers and anyone looking for high quality... not to mention free... fonts.

The site has a very nice, easy-to-use, and clean design.  There may be some that don't like the fact that there aren't any categories.  I don't mind because it exposes you to a variety of fonts that may spark inspiration.  The only suggestion I would have is if they had two categories:  serif and sans-serif.  Generally you know which you are looking for and being able to filter the fonts just that much would be a good help.

Although they are all free, make sure you check any restrictions because some are only for personal use while others you can use commercially.

As a designer the importance of typography can never be taken for granted.  With the proper typography you can convey mood, style, elegance, attitude and more.

Generally for professional fonts you'll pay a starting price around $50 USD a font.  However, don't miss out on some outstanding free alternatives.  Truly there are thousands upon thousands of low quality, free fonts.  Yet, there are golden ones to be found that truly reflect quality.

Smashing Magazine has put together a collection of 40+ excellent free fonts for professional design.  Don't miss this post!
